[a muscular blue-skinned man with glowing yellow eyes and pointy ears is currently sitting outside in the fog, pressing buttons it seems at random as the feed flicks on. He looks like he is concentrating on trying to figure out something on his device, but the expression (and occasional angry gleam in said eyes) shows that he is likely a total novice to this technology stuff. Another button press and [x,y] flashes up, showing that he is actually much closer to where the Animus are thought to be than most people like to get.]

I give up. Stupid human device. [the PCD is dropped disdainfully to the floor and it lands, at a slight angle on the ground, propped up by a rock it landed next to. The figure fades a little and looks much more like the fog but somehow...more real and certainly more beautiful in it's purity. The coalescing vapour that is the ~~great and noble djinni etc etc~~ spirit Bartimaeus of Uruk suddenly stops it's sinuous movement and hangs motionless in the air. A tombstone is becoming visible in the swirling fog and a sound issues from the vapour.]

No, no don't make me see it again. Stupid mane. Never take the form of a lion, you should have known it.

Both. On the material planes, I have to take some form. Here, I can return to my native state, though.

The fog?

You could call it that. We need no form in the Other Place, we all merge and mingle in a vortex.

[Downright weird, the way alternate worlds reflect each other. Hanekoma smiles wryly.]

He's easy to spot. Gangly teen, no fashion sense and has a strange propensity for drainpipe trousers and billowy coats. [s/he seems rather gleeful about being rude about John] He offered me a room when I got here, I figured I might as well take it, I'm not fond of rain.

[Hanekoma barks out a laugh.] Ya know, those are a dime a dozen around here... barrin' the trousers maybe. [He's got a couple gangly teens with no fashion sense hanging around himself.]

Not big on gettin' wet? Or does rain mess with ya somehow?

[smirk] He'd sometimes put a coloured scrap of cloth in his pocket, thought it made him look terribly dashing. I thought he looked like an idiot.

Nah, just don't much like it. Spend time hanging out on lamp posts in the London rain and it'd put you off, too.

I've heard London's the worst. Cold to go with the damp, right? Spend most of my time over in Tokyo, personally.

Cold, wet, grey. I always preferred being summoned in desert climes. Not as familiar with Tokyo, myself.

I've never made it too far from Japan. Work usually calls. [He grins.] Tokyo's got its cold and grey days, but it's pretty nice in the spring.

It is. I went by that in Alexandria.

Ah, the only thing I really noticed about fashions was that the more powerful the magician, the plainer they liked to look.
